Our Products and History
Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO) has almost 50 years’ experience in manufacturing spacecraft components for customers the world over. It‘s long-standing heritage started in the 1970s as a supplier to the Japanese government. Since then, its technical expertise has further broadened to a wider range to meet the various needs of the global market. Now, MELCO’s line of products has developed to match the diversifying applications in nowadays space industry. Those products have been adopted to over 650 programs of customers worldwide, including the US and Europe, and have been proving their quality in critical missions in LEO, MEO, GEO, and Lunar (Cislunar) space.
Our Facilities
Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO) has its main facility for space-grade composite material products in Sagami, Kanagawa. Sagami Factory is a versatile facility with a 77,500-ft2 AIT area that enables in-house manufacturing of solar array panels, substrate panels, and heat pipe panels all in one building. It is also enhanced with automated laydown machines, which are essential for key processes of PVA products, such as CICing and stringing.
