Corporate advertisement (newspaper) series: "Quazi-zenith Satellite System"

Mitsubishi Electric is a main contractor in the Quazi-zenith Satellite Project of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and has commenced full-scale technical and application verification tests on the first quasi-zenith satellite "MICHIBIKI" last December. The joint research with JAXA has shed light on the possibility and importance of achieving dramatic improvement in satellite positioning rate in urban areas where visibility to receive satellite signals from positioning satellites is poor. Following a corporate advertisement released last October, and taking advantage of this timing, we launched another advertisement featuring the quazi-zenith satellite system, to communicate Mitsubishi Electric's technological strength and our contribution to society.

Overview
  • The quazi-zenith satellite MICHIBIKI floating in space is featured as the main visual to create a strong impression of Mitsubishi Electric's satellite business.
  • The catchphrase, "Car navigation systems will detect even your lane changes in a future realized by Japanese GPS satellite MICHIBIKI," communicates the concept that quazi-zenith satellites are a technology that benefits our ordinary lives.
  • The advertisement spotlights Mitsubishi Electric's technological capability by explaining the features of the quazi-zenith satellite, such as that it expands positioning time and places through transmission of positioning signals from virtually directly above Japan (quasi-zenith) with minimum obstacles and improves precision via transmission of additional signals, and also by giving an overview of Mitsubishi Electric's DS2000 standard satellite platform that formed the basis of the development of MICHIBIKI.

Ozone Generator/Suzhou Xujiang Water Treatment Plant

As the 17th in the "China Series" of corporate advertisements launched in the People's Republic of China, we ran an advertisement featuring the role of the ozonizer in a water treatment plant in Xujiang, Suzhou.

Overview

Headline: 清澈水源 清新生活

  • Securing water resources is a priority concern in China, where urban population growth and industrial development are rapidly advancing and it is becoming more and more important to supply safe, good quality water. In March 2010, an ozonizer was introduced to the Xujiang water treatment plant in the ancient city of Suzhou. Thanks to the advanced water purification technology, the plant now purifies and supplies colorless and odorless domestic water to satisfy the needs of 700,000 people. The ozonizer is also an environmentally friendly technology, as it uses ozone, which returns to harmless oxygen after being used for water treatment.
  • Suzhou is an enchanting water city often dubbed the "Venice of the east," with elegant teahouses creating a traditional atmosphere along the canals. In the advertisement, a picture of a cup of water sitting on a table in a teahouse is used symbolically as the main visual to communicate the significant role of Mitsubishi Electric's ozonizer in delivering the colorless, transparent water.

"Momokuro" livens up a launch event for a new 3D display

New 3D display launch event featuring "Momokuro"

To commemorate the launch of a new 3D LCD display, an event featuring the up-and-coming popular girls' unit "Momoiro Clover Z (Momokuro)" was held on May 28 at a live house in Shibuya. Core fans of the five-member girls' unit filled the venue with enthusiastic energy as they watched a 3D in-store promotion video of the new product, in which Momokuro appears, and were treated to a video of a 3D photo movie taken by the members themselves.

Momokuro sang six songs on-stage, including "Konouta," the tie-up song for the new 3D display. The performance was broadcast live via Ustream, and many fans took to Twitter to share their excitement about the event.

The 3D promotion video featuring Momokuro that was shown during the event will begin running in sales outlets after the release of the new product on May 30.

Website Activities

Renewal of the Semiconductor & Devices sites

Mitsubishi Electric's Japanese Semiconductor & Devices site was renewed in March 2011, followed by the renewal of the English and Chinese sites in May 2011. The renewal focused on the following three points.

    Shift to the Corporate Advertising Division server
    The sites that were originally built and operated using their respective server and middleware were shifted to the server operated by the Corporate Advertising Division, and their domain name was changed from Mitsubishichips.com to MitsubishiElectric.co.jp / MitsubishiElectric.com.
    The development and operational efficiency of the member registration function was also improved by employing and taking advantage of the common foundation of the Corporate Advertising Division.

  2. 2.

    Use of CMS(*1)
    The efficiency of upgrading and managing contents was improved by using CMS for content creation and management.

  3. 3.

    Creation of multilingual sites using CMS and TMS(*2)
    By creating the English and Chinese sites using CMS based on the template of the Japanese site, it became possible to create an almost identical layout in the three languages. Future improvements in the speed and efficiency of creating and operating multilingual sites were also examined by using TMS on a trial basis to produce English and Chinese translations.
