Safety classifications
Compliance with EC Directive/CE Marking
- CE Marking is a safety mark that must be affixed to designated products distributed within the European Union (EU) region (only products required by the Directive) to indicate compliance with the essential safety requirements of the EC (EU) Directive.
- Depending on the product, CE marking is allowed either through certification by an "authorized body" or by "self-declaration".
CE(MD)
Machines and machine parts that may cause injury to the operator due to mechanical moving parts. Safety control devices must be certified by an accredited body.
CE(EMC)
Devices that may cause electromagnetic interference or whose functions may be affected by electromagnetic waves.
CE(LVD)
Devices driven by the power supply of 50 to 1000 V AC and 75 to 1500 V DC.
IEC/ISO standards
- International standard for electrical products and machines. Under the WTO/TBT Agreement, each country is supposed to harmonize its standards with international standards. Mitsubishi Electric products conform to safety related standards.
IEC 61508
Functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems.
IEC 62061
Machine safety - Safety related electrical/electronic/programmable electronic control systems.

Safety of machinery - Safety-related parts of control systems - Part 1: General principles for design
UL Standards
- Products can be shipped with the UL Mark when they conform to safety standards developed by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. of the United States. UL Listed products are highly regarded in the U.S. and are terms and conditions in many industries (such as manufacturers).
cULus
A certified standard for North America with certification in the United States in addition to cUL.
KC Mark/Korea safety certification mark
- KC Mark is a safety mark that must be affixed to designated products distributed within Korea (products that require statutory certification for safety, quality, environment and such) to indicate compliance with various regulatory requirements.
- Factory automation products conform to the Radio Law and have KC Mark applied. Please note that other regulations are not applicable.
