Mitsubishi Electric Corporation was founded in 1921. It was established as Mitsubishi’s ninth company, resulting from Kobe Electric Works of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
At the time, Japan was undergoing modern industrialization and the demand for electrical machinery was increasing. The first chairman of Mitsubishi Electric, Hideo Takeda, emphatically declared, “The ‘Electrical Age’ is at hand.” Indeed, the electrical age arrived soon afterwards.
