| This new system from Mitsubishi Electric employs an ultrasonic sensor
mounted above trolley lines to measure the presence of wear or damage
on the pantograph sliding plate current collectors of railway cars. This
measurement is performed automatically and without contact. In addition,
the system performs all data management operations by means of computers,
enabling accurate forecasting of the replacement time of sliding plates.
This is a high precision maintenance system suitable for high performance
railway cars. The new system allows safe and accurate monitoring of wear
and damage, while eliminating the danger of inspection work at heights.
